Things to LOOK
for in choosing a body shop
Look
for auto body shops that take pride in their appearance by keeping a clean,
up to date, and organized facility. When a shop doesn’t keep their
office and work areas clean they are openly expressing a lack of care
for the details, and that could be a reflection of their workmanship.
Inspect the office and exterior for neatness. Also ask to see their shop.
Be cautious of a shop that hides their work area behind a policy; there
may be a reason.
Also make sure you look at their licenses and certifications. See if their shop is endorsed by the State of Nevada as a Class-A Shop. A Class-A endorsement is designated for body shops that met strict requirements for equipment and training. They are the very best and have been inspected by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Things to ASK when choosing
an auto body shop
Make
sure the shop has the most modern auto body technology available. Ask
them if they have the following equipment:
• Frame Racks with measuring systems?
• Downdraft paint booths with smart cure baking cycles to cure the paint?
• Proper welding equipment: Mig Welders & Pro Spotters?
Other questions to ask:
• Does their shop have a Written Lifetime Warranty?
• Does their shop have a designated quality control person to inspect the finished product?
Remember you have the right to
choose your body shop?
The vehicle owner has the legal right to choose the auto body shop of their choice. An insurance company cannot insist on a particular shop. You don’t even need three estimates as any body shop can work with any insurance company, but be sure that the shop you choose ultimately works for you.
According to Nevada Revised Statute 690B.016, you not only have the legal right to choose the shop that repairs your vehicle, but your insurance company is required by law to notify you of that right. Your insurance company cannot insist that you use a particular shop nor require you to get more than one estimate. Ultimately choose a shop that you feel comfortable doing business with. It’s your vehicle and your choice.
